Effect of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi (AMF) on Shoot and Root Development of Black Pepper (Piper nigrum Linn.) Rooted Cuttings
نویسنده
چکیده
A study was conducted to identify the effect of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi AMF (Funneliformis mosseae) infection on growth of black pepper (Piper nigrum Linn.) rooted cuttings. This experiment comprised of three inoculum rates (75g, 100g, and 150g of sorghum root-soil mixture containing Funneliformis mosseae) per 2kg of soil as well as two cultivars namely Panniyur-1 and GK49. Shoot and root parameters were studied using destructive samples of inoculated rooted cuttings. Applications of 75g of inoculum enhanced root and shoot growth of pepper significantly. The impact of inoculation was significant on Panniyur-1. Increasing the rate of inoculum inhibited growth of pepper due to parasitic effects of mycorrhiza. The significant growth improvement at only 75g of inoculum rate indicated the need for further studies on inoculum rate prior to the recommendation of the current AMF source available for commercial pepper nurseries in tropical regions.

Symbiosis relationship between some arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and Salsola laricina and its effect on improving plant growth parameters
The aim of this study was to examine the symbiosis relationshipbetween some arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) and Salsola laricina (Chenopodiaceae), a non-mycotrophic plant speciesand its effect on improving plant growth parameters. Initially, the development of AMF density was monitored through two parameters including evaluation of mycorrhizal colonization of plant roots and density measurem...

The potential of three arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) - Glomus mosseae, G. fasciculatum and G. intraradices- to enhance the production of essential oil and plant growth parameter was investigated in sweet basil (Ocimum basilicum). The AMF inoculation significantly increased plant height, fresh and dry matter yield, oil content and oil yield as compared to non-inoculated basil plants. Essent...

Solanum nigrum was found to proliferate in sediments with high levels of metal pollution. The effect of Zn on plant growth and tissue metal accumulation was assessed. The response of the plant to the inoculation with four different isolates of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) (Glomus sp. BEG140, Glomus claroideum, Glomus mosseae and Glomus intraradices) was studied. While the isolates of AMF ...
متن کاملThe arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus Glomus mosseae gives contradictory effects on phosphorus and arsenic acquisition by Medicago sativa Linn.
Mycorrhizal fungi may play an important role in protecting plants against arsenic (As) contamination. However, little is known about the direct and indirect involvement of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in detoxification mechanisms. A compartmented pot cultivation system ('cross-pots') is used here to investigate the roles of AMF Glomus mosseae in plant phosphorus (P) and As acquisition by ...
